A score of talk-show
appearances ensued, helping Mandel land a role as Dr.
Wayne Fiscus on the award-winning NBC drama 'St. Elsewhere.'
He went on to star in a number of films -- including
'Walk Like a Man' and 'Little Monsters' -- and host
the short-lived 'Howie Mandel Show.' In recent years,
he scored a huge success as the creator, producer, writer
and voice talent behind 'Bobby's World,' an Emmy-nominated
kids' series that ran for eight seasons on Fox.
The backbone of Mandel's career, however, has always
been his stand-up. His almost 200 performances a year
are adrenaline-fueled sessions in which the funnyman
vents his zany opinions and recounts sidesplitting stories
of childhood angst. Mandel darts around the stage, cracking
one-liners in his signature high-pitched voice, feeding
off of the audience to improvise much of his material.
He is one of the most versatile entertainers working
today, from his dramatic debut on St-Elsewhere to his
own syndicated talk show, Howie Mandel has been making
us laugh for years. His sense of humor may not be to
everyone's liking, as he sometimes can get very mischievous.
In addition to his comedy routines, Howie also had an
Emmy-nominated animated show called "Bobby's World",
which ran for 8 seasons on Fox, and is now syndicated
all over the world. In addition to the show, was a series
of animated educational CD-ROMs for kids.
